Name: Carol Alcantar
Location: Raleigh, NC
Position: HR Intern

Fundraising Goal: $500

How did you get interested in global issues?
I have always been interested in global issues. I believe that everyone should have access to clean water, food, shelter and medicine. It is our responsibility to help out those who need assistance and make the world a better place for every living thing on this planet.

Why are you volunteering your time to serve the world’s poor?
By serving those living in poverty, we are able to provide them with education which is a valuable tool, not only for the individual, but the entire population. In addition, I think it is important to increase awareness of how promoting foreign aid directly impacts the lives of individuals.

Any interesting tidbits to share?
Aside from my interest in global issues, I am interested in wildlife preservation, photography and hiking. A random fact is that I have hiked through part of the Andes mountains.

My compassion/humility list:
I will do the following for any friends or family who donates in my honor…

  1. $70: Cook dinner for two
  2. $35: 1-hour photography session
  3. $30: 1 dozen cupcakes
