How did you get interested in global issues?
The people who hold positions of power in our government at this moment in time are not only neglecting to address global issues, they are actively sabotaging the progress and diplomacy made by previous administrations. In the face of such a disgraceful representation of America’s role in global politics, I was inspired to take action on global issues because it is more important than ever to take action wherever possible to make positive global impacts that show what the true American spirit is.

Why are you volunteering your time to serve the world’s poor?
In my history as an activist, I have focused the majority of my efforts on national issues that concern me and people like me and neglected to use my voice to make a difference for a wider variety of people and topics. I want to inspire change and action at every level, from local to global, and use my actions to make a difference in the lives of as many people as possible.

Any interesting tidbits to share?
I am a political science major at Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts, with a particular focus on race and legal theory. I plan to attend law school after college and hope to someday run for Congress. In my free time, I am a news junkie, an advocate for women’s reproductive rights, a baker, an artist, and an avid dog lover.
