Aya Sewelam

Name: Aya Sewelam
Location: Coventry, United Kingdom
Role: PR/Marketing Team member

Fundraising Goal: £400

How did you get interested in global issues?
The 2011 Egyptian revolution was a turning point for me when it comes to internal and global affairs. I developed a sense of empathy and global awareness seeing the Arab Spring movement with its accomplishments as well as its setbacks.

Why are you volunteering your time to serve the world’s poor?
As an Egyptian girl, born and raised in Egypt, I have witnessed the struggles that low income houses had to go through when it comes to shelter and girls’ education. Being fortunate enough to access proper education and having extra time on my hands, it is only natural that I dedicate that time to help people who are less fortunate.

Any interesting tidbits to share?
In my free time, I like to listen to podcasts about business development like acquired and I like reading philosophy books.
