Fundraising Goal:

How did you get interested in global issues?
As a political science major at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, I have been privileged to receive an incredible education. Part of this curriculum has included extensive study on other, less privileged areas of the world and how resource inequality makes us all less safe. We owe it to our world to lessen the gap between the world’s richest and poorest countries.

Why are you volunteering your time to serve the world’s poor?
We, as residents of the United States, are lucky enough to have been born in a resource-rich country. Most of us don’t have to worry about where our next meal comes from or whether or not we’ll be able to access clean water during the day. All of us take for granted the free K-12 education mandated and paid for by our government. In light of these immense privileges, I believe it’s our duty to work toward a world where no child is hungry, no woman is barred from accessing education, and a world where your place of birth no longer determines your life span.

We’ve all heard that, “With great power comes great responsibility.” We’re only the greatest country in the world if we use that power for good.

Any interesting tidbits to share?
My favorite hobby is to rescue and love animals! I currently have four dogs, four snakes, a chameleon, and a bearded dragon. My secret wish is to live on enough land to rescue hundreds of animals.
