Annabel Kartal-Allen

Name: Annabel Kartal-Allen
Location: Reading, United Kingdom
Role: Writer/Journalist Team Member

Fundraising Goal: £600

How did you get interested in global issues?
Through my heritage, as my mum was a refugee of the Bosnian war. Her retelling of experiences made me want to educate myself on the world around me, and what could be done to solve world issues.

Why are you volunteering your time to serve the world’s poor?
Because I believe every person has a responsibility to do what they can to help others, especially when they could have even a fraction of an influence over their health and wellbeing. Helping raise awareness can impact so many positively, and doing this is extremely fulfilling in my eyes.

Any interesting tidbits to share?
I’m a bit of an arts and crafts freak- I love crocheting clothes and accessories, as well as painting and drawing.

My Compassion/Humility List
I will do the following for any friends and family who donate in my honor.

  • £100 – Do your washing for 2 weeks.
  • £200 – Cook you a three course dinner (party hats included).
  • £500 – Write you a poignant rap and recite it to you outside your window.
