How did you get interested in global issues?
I’ve always been pretty interested in advocating for others on the domestic level and frequently volunteered and attended marches and other events. I realized that I could continue to do the same sort of work on a global scale through affecting policy. I’ll always be grateful for the opportunity to assist those who have more difficult circumstances than I do.
Why are you volunteering your time to serve the world’s poor?
I think that as someone who was lucky enough to be born in a situation where I don’t have to worry about going hungry, or if I’m able to receive proper medical care or education, it is a responsibility of mine to help people who haven’t been born in that same position. I think that working to help the world’s poor is one of the more effective ways I can choose to spend my time, and it brings me a lot of satisfaction to know that I’m doing what I can to help others.
Any interesting tidbits to share?
I’m hoping to go to law school in the future, and I’m currently halfway through obtaining a Bachelor’s Associate’s degree in political science. I like dogs, reading, writing, and playing the piano in my spare time. I have a wonderful younger brother and very supportive father, and I’m very grateful to my family for everything they do for me.
My compassion/humility list:
I will do the following for any friends or family who donates in my honor…
- Clean out their garage/ house
- Walk their dogs
- Mow their lawn
