How did you get interested in global issues?
I got interested in global issues after taking a class on Developing Countries at UCSD. The number of countries and people struggling simply to survive each day was staggering and really put my life into perspective. At that point, I was studying International Relations because I didn’t know what else to study. This was a turning point for me, as International Relations transformed into a lens through which to view the issues pressing our world.
What do you do when you’re not fighting global poverty?
I love to play basketball. I’m a die-hard L.A. Lakers fan and never fail to yell out “KOBE!” as I miss shots on the hardwood. My other passion is music. You’ll often catch me singing while strumming away at my guitar.
What have you learned/found interesting about The Borgen Project?
The Borgen Project has shown me that grassroots organizations are extremely effective. Learning about them in classes without a tangible sample made it hard to believe. Seeing it happen through this organization has made joining it an exciting opportunity.
