How did you get interested in global issues?
We live in a globalized world that is becoming more connected through communication technology and the expansion of global markets. Our lives no longer end at the water’s edge.
Why are you volunteering your time to serve the world’s poor?
When we reduce global poverty, we can combat international crime and create new markets for global businesses. Serving the impoverished in the global arena is a lot simpler than we perceive it to be. We need to influence Congress to focus our foreign policy on global poverty. In respect to foreign policy priorities, only $3 billion is provided toward programs assisting the world’s poor while $663 billion is geared toward military spending.
